To Rhode Island Religious Leaders:
Dear Friends,

On October 22 of this year, Baha’is around the globe will celebrate the two-hundredth anniversary of the birth of Baha’u’llah, founder of the Baha’i Faith. The Baha’i community of Providence was established in 1943, and since that time we have striven to promote Baha’u’llah’s vision of justice, peace, and the revitalization of the material and spiritual life of all its citizens, collaborating with others to promote unity and to serve our neighbors.

The Baha’is of Providence and Rhode Island, their families, friends, neighbors, and colleagues are commemorating this bicentenary of the birth of Baha’u’llah, along with Baha’is across the United States and around the world.

We would be honored if you would agree to attend the local celebration of this momentous day with us. The event will include displays, short videos, children’s activities, and refreshments.

Baha’u’llah (1817-1892) was a spiritual teacher, who announced in 1863 that he was the bearer of a new revelation from God. His teachings have spread throughout the world, forming the basis of a process of social transformation and community building which is unique in its global scope and the diversity of its participants.

The open house is a celebration of the transformative impact of Baha’u’llah’s teachings on the lives of individuals, families, neighborhoods and communities around the country and the world. Baha’u’llah’s vision of the oneness of humanity is an antidote to the racial prejudice and materialism that are corroding American society. His teachings apply principles of the interconnectedness of all peoples to contemporary challenges, including environmental and economic justice, racial oneness, transcending faith differences, and harmony between science and religion.
